You are here: Home » The RSS Marketing Diary » RSS Services for End-users » Amazing RSS Delivery Possibilities and RSS Weather July 6, 2005 Amazing RSS Delivery Possibilities and RSS Weather RSSWeather.com allows you to subscribe to a variery of weather feeds from around the world. I haven't used the service much yet, but I can't find any regions and countries they don't cover. But something else really got my interest ... In addition to subscribing to generic feeds for each city you're interested in, they allow you to customize how that feed is served to you. Basic customization includes measurement units you want your forecasts to display in and what content you want showed (such as showing the forecast for 2 periods and showing day and night combined). The most interesting part is that they allow you to select when the feed is updated: when a new observation becomes available; when the temperature changes; when a new weather forecast becomes available etc. Just imagine this feature being implemented in to other content services, such as financial updates. Wouldn't it be great having an RSS feed with the latest stock values for just the papers you're holding, where you can for instance select that the feed updates only when the value of your stock increases for a predetermined number of points, and so on? Now just apply this concept to just any type of information that needs to be delivered only in specific circumstances, which depend on the actual user and his own preferences ... Comments
