A now "deceased" website on RSS marketing and RSS publishing - a look at the history of internet marketing

A Note from the Author: The RSS Diary is Closed

rssdiary.marketingstudies.net was built to help marketers get the most from RSS. However, much has changed since the site was last updated in 2007 - and it's pretty fair to say that it's now completely outdated.

Since I've moved on to other interests in internet marketing years ago, the site is now officially closed, and only remains online as an archive of a part of internet marketing's past. This is how we used to see RSS between 2004 - 2007. We don't, anymore, but there's no harm in having a small part of our past available online.

With that, I'm also making the e-book that started all of this, Unleas the Marketing and Publishing Power of RSS, available for free download.

An Advancement in RSS Metrics?

RSS Metrics is one of the hotest RSS topics right now, which is quite understandable, since a key requirement for a channel to be effective as a marketing tool is the ability to measure and analyze it in full.

It also proves that marketers are slowly starting to accept this channel and are now considering ways of improving its effectiveness.

The problem with RSS is that there are yet no uniform standards to measure it, and almost no RSS publishing solutions come "out-of-the-box" with a reliable metrics system.

That doesn't mean that marketers have no way of measuring how their RSS feeds are perfoming. Quite on the contrary. In "Unleash", for instance, I listed and explained a few highly reliable metrics methods, but these approaches have not yet been implemented in any mainstream publishing solutions.

But now there's a new player on the market, SyndicateIQ, promising to deliver exactly the kind of information marketers want, and that with our existing RSS feeds.

I'm already scheduled for a detailed demonstration of the system and its implementation on some of my feeds, so I'll keep you posted as I test the system.

In the meantime, take "a look" at the excellent interview Robin Good recently did with SyndicateIQ ...
