Back from Atlanta

I finally got back from Atlanta and it sure was a great and worthwhile trip. Although there wasn't much on RSS and they had very little in terms of really advanced internet marketing content, I'd still recommend you attend the DMA event next year.

And actually, Stephan Spencer, Debbie Weil, Dana VanDen Heuvel and some other folks had a beginners' session on RSS, which I unfortunatelly couldn't make it to due to having some meetings. So the RSS world is in fact getting some direct marketing recognition ... wish I was invited as a speaker on the topic:)

Much more was being said on blogging, with the speakers unfortunatelly presenting the more hard-core segment of the blogosphere. I mean, guys, this is a direct marketing event where only the metrics mean something --- how can you speak out against character blogs without even a piece of real data to back your claims?

The fun part was the keynote by Seth Godin. It's funny how Seth can get away with practically insulting almost the entire audience and then getting standing ovations at the end. Great work, Seth!

And finally, the best part were the business connections. Met some great people from the direct marketing industry and am looking forward to working with them soon.

More later ...

Rok,

Not much on RSS & web related stuff...we need to do a panel next year!

Here's some thoughts:

- RSS
- Diffusion of innovation & why direct marketers need to pay attention
- Measurement & standardization (think of where we'll be a year from now)
- Case studies detailing the RSS successes of 2005 & 2006

Dana,

I fully agree. Got enough clout to get it through to the DMA?:)
