We're talking about metrics, "list" segmentation, targeting, personalization, autoresponders etc. FeedForAll.com now seem to have found a solution: providing downloadable scripts, which their users can install on their servers or servers of their hosting providers, to manipulate their RSS feeds. Their first script aids publishers in delaying the publication of their RSS feed content items, so that they may pre-publish them to the feed, but have them appear only when the appropriate time is reached. The cool part is that this same approach could also be used for other advanced features, which have up until now been squarely in the domain of server-side RSS publishing & marketing applications. This space is getting increasingly interesting, which is as always good news for marketers, as they can expect new marketing oriented features to be introduced in the near future and made available at a much lower cost.
