A now "deceased" website on RSS marketing and RSS publishing - a look at the history of internet marketing
Stephen M. Cohen, a Librarian/Writer/Consultant, and "the" blogger for librarians, just posted a review of Unleash on his blog:
"Roks numerous examples of how businesses can utilize RSS to market themsleves and their clients is unrelenting. You can't think of a question that can't be answered in this tome (or should I say e-tome). The interviews that he has with experts in the RSS field are also well worth the read. In fact, that was one of my favorite portions. This is not a book to read all at once. In the library business (yes, it's a business - don't be fooled by others who say otherwise), we love a good reference material. One that is full of facts, Q&As, and good substance. For publishers, editors, public relations professionals, this is such a book.
Librarians are historically terrible at marketing ourselves. This comes up at every conference that I have ever attended. Even though there have been books written about library marketing strategies, most library professionals choose not to follow the advice given. I haven't figured out why (considering our libraries are closing and our salary advances are decreasing at a rapid rate) but the time to figure it out is now."
As Steven goes on to say, librarians are already adept at using RSS, and in fact present some of the best and most advanced RSS users.
