Mobile RSS and RSS Advertising Going Strong

It's good to see that the RSS world is moving swiftly, with important news being made almost every day.

This week faced us with research negating the power of RSS, a pro-RSS survey, and much interesting news in-between.

Latest reports indicate that RSS advertising and mobile RSS are continuing to grow strong.

Mobile RSS to Improve Our Lives

FeedBeep and PubSub just announced their partnership to deliver PubSub RSS alerts to mobile phones via RSS.

"Using PubSub, FeedBeep delivers instant access to potentially critical news. For example, when a press release is published containing keywords or phrases requested in users' subscriptions, FeedBeep alerts those subscribers via SMS. In this example, public relations professionals and reporters would receive instant notification of breaking news important to them, without having to continually monitor dozens or hundreds of Web sites from their computer."

It seems the latest Slashdot survey, predicting that "receiving feeds through mobile units such as cell phones, SMS messaging, voice mail, WAP or portable audio players will increase", was right.

And why not, since RSS to SMS in fact promises to improve our lives by giving us easy access to the time-critical information we need most, when we need it.

Another Player Joins the RSS Advertising Arena

Nasdaq reports that RocketInfo, a leading news aggregator/serach engine has just struck a deal with Kanoodle to monetize its RSS feeds with targeted RSS advertising.

"The popular RocketNews current news search engine can be used to create dynamic keyword-based RSS feeds for use in any RSS reader, including the company's own Rocket RSS Reader."

Doesn't all of this sound farmiliar? Advertising always seems to be first when it comes to monetizing new technologies ... but will business success always follow?
