A now "deceased" website on RSS marketing and RSS publishing - a look at the history of internet marketing
You know how we all set our RSS aggregators to download the RSS feeds we subscribe to every hour or every couple of hours?
The point it, RSS feeds are almost never refreshed live, which might be a dissadvantage for users wanting to receive news exactly as it becomes available (or sooner, if they have any say in it:).
Well, KnowNow and Syndic8 just joined forces to deliver live RSS updates to Syndic8's user base.
"KnowNow 3 Web Syndication Solution with SpeedReader provides live, continuously updated RSS feeds--which KnowNow calls 'channels'--without the need to install software. It also comes with a branded RSS reader called SpeedReader that launches directly from a Web page. Unlike typical RSS readers that periodically check feeds for updates and then store them on the user's local disk drive, SpeedReader continuously monitors feeds for new information and delivers it immediately. In fact, multiple channels can be made active so that the headlines flow together into the preview pane as they are updated."
And now for the part that's not going to appeal to most heavy RSS users ... SpeedReader allows for certain content, such as crucial information or advertisements, to be aggresively pushed to the end-user.
Since advertisers are usually first to figure out new "content" delivery techniques, there's no doubt what content will start being pushed first. I can just see the days of angst again pop-up ads returning ...
Or I just might be wrong and their "push" is really something most users will love because of its possible high relevantcy and low ad noise.
Hmmm ... I propably should start getting them for an audio interview about now ...
