I've had the privilege of testing the RSS Autopublisher for a few weeks before its release, and was really amazed with the implemented marketing features. As opposed to practically every other RSS publishing solution on the market, the RSS Autopublisher was made for e-mail marketers, who do not even need to know what RSS is in order to start using it. On the other hand, experienced RSS publishers might have some problems getting used to the terms and concepts used here, as they are taken directly from the e-mail marketing world and implemented in RSS. "E-mail marketing" features include:
Yes, personalization is among them as well ... RSS Autopublisher actually treats individual RSS feeds as e-mail lists, and the marketer can decide to give access to these feeds only through a subscription form, first getting some relevant information from the subscriber. As has become standard practice among advanced publishing systems for marketers, each subscriber gets a unique RSS feed URL in order to enable subscriber tracking. The only feature that I'm really missing right now is the ability to use my existing feeds with the RSS Autopublisher and re-distribute them through it, not having to re-enter the same content I'm already publishing on my web site. I mentioned that to Mike and he has promised an upgrade soon. And of course the fact that this is a hosted solution, which consequently means that the generated RSS feeds won't have as great an impact on the publisher's search engine rankings. But that's true for any hosted solution anyway. Wouldn't mind having some RSS feed customization either:) During the next few weeks I'll be setting up some demo RSS feeds using this solution to give you some practical marketing ideas and also show you that RSS in fact can become a powerful marketing tool. Also, keep tabs on an interview we'll be doing with the RSS Autopublisher vendor really soon. In the meantime, you are welcome to take a look at some admin screenshots from the solution, below:
Adding new campaigns, which is basically creating a new RSS feed. Each feed can either order individual content items "Relative to the contact subscription date" or "Relative to the previous message".
