A now "deceased" website on RSS marketing and RSS publishing - a look at the history of internet marketing

A Note from the Author: The RSS Diary is Closed

rssdiary.marketingstudies.net was built to help marketers get the most from RSS. However, much has changed since the site was last updated in 2007 - and it's pretty fair to say that it's now completely outdated.

Since I've moved on to other interests in internet marketing years ago, the site is now officially closed, and only remains online as an archive of a part of internet marketing's past. This is how we used to see RSS between 2004 - 2007. We don't, anymore, but there's no harm in having a small part of our past available online.

With that, I'm also making the e-book that started all of this, Unleas the Marketing and Publishing Power of RSS, available for free download.

The First RSS Seminar Ever?

Yesterday, the business daily Finance and I did a seminar on RSS, blogging and search engine marketing.

Call me crazy, but the seminar was for a market (Slovenia) with:

  • app. 36 blogs,

  • app. 2-6 companies publishing content via RSS,

  • probably not more than about 100-500 RSS end-users.

And a market where even "real" e-mail e-zines are something that only a few dozen companies are doing.

But the crowd seemed to have loved the event and the concept of RSS, especially using it for search engine optimization. The concept of using RSS for end-user content delivery went down well too.

While we did cover blogging as well (two 30 minute sessions by Zoran Savin and Vuk Cosic), RSS was the main focus with five 1 hour sessions (4 by yours truly and 1 by Luka Kogovsek).

So now I'm wondering whether this was actually the first seminar focusing especially on RSS, ever? If you know, do post a comment below.

Wouldn't it be funny if the first seminar on RSS in the world were done in a country where RSS is practically non-existant?
