A now "deceased" website on RSS marketing and RSS publishing - a look at the history of internet marketing

A Note from the Author: The RSS Diary is Closed

rssdiary.marketingstudies.net was built to help marketers get the most from RSS. However, much has changed since the site was last updated in 2007 - and it's pretty fair to say that it's now completely outdated.

Since I've moved on to other interests in internet marketing years ago, the site is now officially closed, and only remains online as an archive of a part of internet marketing's past. This is how we used to see RSS between 2004 - 2007. We don't, anymore, but there's no harm in having a small part of our past available online.

With that, I'm also making the e-book that started all of this, Unleas the Marketing and Publishing Power of RSS, available for free download.

The Syndicate Conference Wrap-up

With the Syndicate conference ending yesterday, I can't help but have some mixed feelings about the entire afair. While almost everyone from the RSS industry was here, I really expected more of the ''hard stuff'', numbers and metrics, best practices and how-to tips, hands-on information that we can take home and do something about.

But in reality, the conference was more about meeting the right people and discussing the more strategic aspects of RSS, which isn't bad by itself, but it does show we're in great need for some case studies and best practices in the field.

And at the same time, at least half of the speakers were talking more about blogs than RSS, showing that the two are still too much regarded as one, at least on the perception level. When are we, as the industry, going to look beyond blogging and embrace RSS as a stand-alone channel, ready to be integrated into all of our marketing, not just on the blogging side of things?

On a positive note, I did finally meet alot of the great people I've been in touch with online for the past year and a half. Especially fun was the dinner last night with the guys from Pheedo, Nooked and Tom Forenski. Very insightful. I'd love to host these guys in Slovenia some time soon.

So, in terms of networking, the conference really rocked.
